Installing License File

Installing a License File

The license file contains information about the licensee, features and any applicable limits, such as duration of evaluation or subscription. Once the built-in evaluation license expires, an extension code or a new license file is required to continue using QTAssistant.

Installing a new license file is basically a file copy in the QTAssistant application data folder. QTAssistant maintains its data in the following folder:

%ApplicationData%\QTAssistantX

where X represents the major version number (5, 6, etc.)

ApplicationData is a special folder on Windows machines, and is defined as:

The directory that serves as a common repository for application-specific data for the current roaming user.

A roaming user works on more than one computer on a network. A roaming user's profile is kept on a server on the network and is loaded onto a system when the user logs on.

A standalone utility is available from the same Program folder as the QTAssistant executable.
